What do books and walls of plastic have in common?
They are in a construction zone at the Coos Bay Public Library.
A remodeling project is under way, but the library will remain open during most of the project. There will be a short closure to be announced later in March for entrance area construction.
You still can check out books at the adult reference desk or in the children’s department. The express self-checkout machine also will be available, but in a new location near the main door.
Library staff is asking people to return books to the outside book drop, and a bin will be available for returns in the children’s department.
Volunteers with the Friends of the Library are asking that book donations for sales be held until the construction project is complete. No sale is scheduled this month.
The project will reconfigure the audiovisual area for easier public access and increase book sale storage space. The circulation desk will be redesigned to be more efficient and ergonomically designed.
The library is open from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., Monday through Friday; from noon to 6 p.m., Friday and Saturday; and closed Sundays.
