The Oregon Coast Music Association is presenting its annual Kinderkonzert series this week.

The concert series is designed to be fun-filled and educational. This year’s event features “A Snowball’s Chance,” a vibrant seven-piece jazz band; and Southwestern Oregon Community College’s own Mike Turner, who will be presenting classical guitar music.

OCMA also is holding a kids T-shirt design contest. The winning design will be featured during the 2008 music festival season. The Kinderkonzerts are being offered in local schools, but anyone can catch a one-day only performance open to the public at 11 a.m. on Saturday in the Coos Bay Public Library, 525 W. Anderson Ave.

For more information, those interested can contact Kevin at 290-3464.

As the music director for the Reedsport Schools I was very happy to know the staff at Highland elementary were very impressed with the Kinderkonzert. When I asked the sixth graders about it they were enthusiastic and positive in their response. Thank you musicians for a wonderful musical experience for our students.
