Delimont receives KSU Legacy Award

Nicole Marie Delimont, of North Bend, was awarded the $6,000 Legacy Award from Kansas State University for the 2007-08 school year.

Boyer granted nursing degree from Wesleyan

Lesley Boyer, of Coos Bay, received her nursing degree during graduation ceremonies on Dec. 15 at Indiana Wesleyan University.

Indiana Wesleyan University is an evangelical Christian comprehensive university that was founded in 1920, and is committed to liberal arts and professional education. IWU is sponsored by The Wesleyan Church.

Shanks named to Macalester dean’s list

Gwyneth Shanks, the daughter of Alan and Lori Shanks of North Bend, has been named to the dean’s list of Macalester College for academic achievement during the fall semester of the 2007-08 school year. She is a graduate of North Bend High School and was a sophomore at Macalester last fall.

To be eligible for the dean’s list, a student must have been registered as a full-time, degree-seeking student and may not have been on a study away program.

Gonzaga junior named to president’s list

Forrest A. Hogue, of North Bend, a junior at Gonzaga University, was among the 861 undergraduate students named to the Gonzaga University president’s list for the fall semester in 2007. Students must earn a 3.7 or better grade-point average to be listed.

U of P adds several CB students on dean’s list

The following students from Coos Bay were listed on the 2007 fall semester dean’s list at the University of Portland. Jennifer Brooks, a junior, studying chemistry and biochemistry; Loan Duong, a freshman, studying biology; Erica Ellingsen, a sophomore, studying business administration; and Emily Noack, a junior, studying social work.

Inouyo noted for good grades at Gonzaga

David Akira Inouyo, of North Bend, a junior at Gonzaga University, was among the 861 undergraduate students named to the Gonzaga University president’s list for the fall semester 2007.

Students must earn a 3.7 or better grade-point average to be listed.

Bowman, Becker on George Fox dean’s list

Carli L. Bowman, of North Bend and Alayna Joy Becker, of Coos Bay, have been named to the dean’s list at George Fox University for the 2007 fall semester.

To be included on the academic honor roll, a student must earn a 3.5 grade point average or higher while taking at least 12 graded credit hours of classes.

Bowman is a sophomore who is majoring in biology. She is the daughter of Tim and Elaine Bowman of North Bend.

Becker is a junior who is majoring in mathematics. She is the daughter of Mark and Sharon Hauntz of Coos Bay.

George Fox University is a Christian university of the humanities, sciences and professional studies ranked by the U.S. News and World Report as a top-tier western regional university.

Allison Marie Jordan, a senior at Gonzaga University, was among the 861 undergraduate students named to the president’s list for the 2007 fall semester. Students must earn a 3.7 or better grade-point average to be listed.

Jordan is a 2004 graduate of North Bend High School.

MHS senior honored for cemetery work

Rebecca Soules, a senior at Marshfield High School, was recognized for her volunteer work at the Marshfield Pioneer Cemetery in a nationwide contest. The 18-year-old was named a distinguished finalist in The Prudential Spirit of Community Awards contest, a nationwide program honoring acts of volunteerism, a press release said. She was recognized for coordinating volunteer workdays at the cemetery, marking the graves of veterans and compiling a computer database of cemetery records. Rebecca was one of four finalists from Oregon.
