Actor and director Leonardo Defilippis will present the one-man drama “The Passion According to Luke,” at 7 p.m. on Tuesday at Holy Redeemer Church, 2250 16th St., North Bend.
The drama brings the Easter story of the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ to life directly from Scripture.
The Passion opens with Jesus’ entry into Jerusalem, carries through the Last Supper, the agony in the garden, his death on the cross and resurrection. Defilippis uses few props, allowing the text and the majestic musical score to speak straight to the heart of the viewer, a press release said.
Defilippis has worked as an actor, producer, and director of religious live theatrical productions, videos and films for 28 years. After years performing in the Colorado Shakespeare Festival, San Diego’s Old Globe Theater and the Oregon Shakespeare Festival, Defilippis launched his own production company, Saint Luke Productions, in 1980. Their most well-known production, the feature film “Thérèse,” played in mainstream theaters throughout the U.S. and Canada. Defilippis made his directorial debut with the film and played the role of Therese’s father in the movie. His work has been aired on broadcast and cable networks and through numerous international media venues. His productions have won numerous national and international awards for artistic excellence.
“The Passion According to Luke” is suitable for all ages and runs about an hour.
There will be a free will offering, and all are welcome. For more information, those interested can call the church office at 756-0633. |
