Coos Bay schools

Movie at the Egyptian

Students from Sunset Middle School and Marshfield High School are raising funds for an eight-day trip of major cities and sights on the East Coast, scheduled to begin June 18.

The first of the three school-sponsored fundraisers will be the movie “Rocky,” at 7 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 22, at the Egyptian Theatre in downtown Coos Bay.

Students will greet visitors and usher them to their seats, as well as present a Rocky-themed shenanigan during an intermission. Tickets cost $5 and are available from Sunset Middle School students.

Book sales

On March 1, Books By The Bay owner, Trish Price, will donate 30 percent of the profits from sales of new books to the trip. All proceeds from the event will be split among the students involved in the fundraiser. Books By The Bay is located at 1875 Sherman Ave., North Bend.

Auctioning off labor

The final coordinated fundraiser will be a Youth Service Auction on March 14. This evening event will include a potluck dinner in the gym.  Groups of students will offer creative ways to provide eight hours of service such as house cleaning, stacking wood and more.
