The Furry Friends Therapy Dogs Inc. group attracted a pack of dogs Saturday to downtown Coos Bay. These dogs were no pack of trouble, either.

The  event was in conjunction with the 10-step American Kennel Club Canine Good Citizen test.

Dog owner Lisa Readel brought her 8-year-old Sheltie to the course, and, in fact, brings all her dogs to the testing, she said.

 “I feel confident that they can handle any unexpected situation and come out all right," Readel said.

Furry Friends Therapy Dogs is a local animal-assisted therapy group that makes visits to Coos County clinics, homes and hospitals. The interaction of therapy animals and patients helps alleviate the effects of poor health and mental disorders, group members say.
