Railroad museum volunteers hoping visitors stop in

The modern-day railroad might be shut down, but there still are trains in Coos County.
The Oregon Coast Historical Railroad and Logging Museum is encouraging people interested in trains and the area's history to stop in. The museum, at 766 S. First St. in Coos Bay, features a 104 Steam Locomotive and a refurbished caboose.
It is open from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Wednesdays and Saturdays. Organizers are in the process of doubling the inside display area and are in need of volunteers.
Engine 104, a steam locomotive stands near a railroad crossing sign in the yard at the museum. The retired Mikado engine, manufactured by Baldwin and built in 1922, and the attached caboose are the centerpiece for the outdoor display.
