Local business owners are hoping that becomes a refrain of the past. The community is holding an Old Towne sign painting competition. Entries will be accepted through Feb. 18.

Old Towne business owners have worked to gain possession of two directional signs located on the corner of state Highway 38 and U.S. Highway 101. The sign was in disrepair. A number of Old Towne business owners have taken on the project and the sign has been refurbished and is ready for painting.

People interested in the project should visit the MidCoast Mall at 392 Fir Ave. (Highway 38) and look over the samples of the Old Town Sign drawings vote for a favorite or, people can submit their own designs ASAP to Kathi Wall-Meyer at Kathi’s Vintage Antiques Gifts and Collectibles, Suite 107 or call (541) 271-3044 or (541) 662-0634.

All submitted drawings must be to scale. The sign is 6-feet wide and 3-feet, 10-inches tall. The design should include the wording “Visit Old Towne” and a directional arrow. Votes will be counted on Feb. 19.
