Port staff recognized for a safe 2007 work record

Saturday, February 02, 2008 |
Employees of the Oregon International Port of Coos Bay achieved a No-Time-Lost Safety Award for 2007. The award is part of the agency’s long-established Safety Training Program, according to a press release.
The program and award will be discussed at the port’s Feb. 21 commission meeting.
During recent years the port has experienced lower workers’ compensation insurance rates due to increased safety training for employees and reduced accidents and lost-time injuries. The port’s workers’ compensation experience rate is now below one percent. Previously, the Special Districts Association of Oregon gave the agency a safety award in 2004.
