Great quakes lecture at 7 p.m. “Great Earthquakes in the Pacific Northwest: New Views of Monitoring and the Episodic Tremor and Slip Story” will be the topic of a free talk by scientist Dr. Kelin Wang at 7 p.m. in the Hales Center for the Performing Arts on the Southwestern Coos Bay campus, 1988 Newmark Ave. The lecture marks the 308th anniversary of the last great Cascadia subduction zone earthquake. Wang plans to discuss some of the cutting edge science associated with the study of Cascadia megathrust earthquakes.
