The bands “Eliza Jane and the Barnyard Gypsies,” and “Killing Cassanova” will perform a concert of “Gypsy Grass” music, a blend of gypsy and bluegrass at 8 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 26, at the Pistol River Friendship Hall.
Eliza Jane Schneider is a singer, fiddler, author, actress. And that’s not all. She’s also a voice artist, dialectologist, composer, oral historian and playwright. She is the voice of the female population of TV’s “South Park” and winner of the “Best Solo Show” award at the NYC Fringe Festival.
Her background also includes starring roles in two CBS Saturday Morning live action television series, including the Emmy-Award winning “Beakman's World” as “Liza.” In her spare time, Eliza tours and fiddles with her band, the Barnyard Gypsies.
Eliza Jane and her band perform her own tunes, combining socially pertinent foot-stompers and heartfelt love ballads in a folk fusion style she calls “Gypsy Grass,” a press release said.
Sharing the stage is “Killing Cassanova.” The band is described as one that harnesses the creative sound and power of the old steam trains that once barreled down the tracks, carving the lasting pathways through the Great Plains and the Rocky Mountains as they made the Old West the New West, a press release said.
“Killing Cassanova” has been the resident band at some of the hottest clubs in Los Angeles and is currently hosting “The Back Porch at the UnUrban Café,” considered to be the best of local bluegrass, Americana, Folk Rock and country music in Los Angeles. Its unique style of folk rock also has been heard in movie soundtracks.
Tickets cost $15 and are available at Mory’s and Words and Pictures in Brookings and at Gold Beach Books in Gold Beach. Tickets also may be reserved online at
