A Coquille man injured during an arrest last weekend remains in serious condition in a Eugene hospital this morning.
Carl Foster, 57, was injured during an arrest by Coquille Police officers on Jan. 12.
A press release from the Coos County District Attorney’s Office indicated Foster resisted arrest and the officers pulled him to the ground. Once he was on the ground, the officers noticed Foster was limp and not breathing, the release said. He was taken to Coquille Valley Hospital with neck injuries and signs of paralysis and then life-flighted to Sacred Heart Medical Center in Eugene, where he underwent surgery Jan. 14 to a fractured vertebra.
Foster was listed in serious condition this morning in the hospital’s intensive care unit.
The Coos County Major Crime Team investigation into the incident is continuing.
