Del Rey and Steve James, acoustic blues singers and guitarists, will perform at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 23, at the Port Orford Community Building.

The community center is located at 419 E. 11th St. Tickets cost $10 at the door.

Del Rey comes from Seattle, Wash., and Steve James hails from Austin, Texas. Each has built a successful career and recorded solo albums. The two kept meeting each other at blues festivals and workshops around the world and in 2001 decided to play and record together.

James and Del Rey perform with enthusiasm, humor, and virtuosity. Continuing the legacy of old-time blues musicians, they add their own inventiveness. Their concerts have been described in words such as “natural,” “authentic,” and “unforgettable.” Expect mandolin and ukulele as well as guitar, and lots of fun, according to a press release.

South Coast residents might remember Rey. She performed in Port Orford on Labor Day weekend 2007.
