Community Sports, Fast Breaks for Jan. 12: Babe Ruth meeting scheduled for Sunday in NorthBend

South Coast Babe Ruth will hold a general meeting Sunday at the North Bend Fire Hall.
All people interested in coaching or helping for the 2008 season are encouraged to attend the 3 p.m. meeting.
Topics for discussion will include beginning-of-season activities, registration fees for 2008, election of officers, managing and coaching positions open for the season, work in progress at Clyde Allen Field, game and tournament scheduling, and hosting the 13- to 15-year-old state tournament in July.
Anyone with questions should contact League Vice President Rick Spring at 756-4669 or League President Mike Taylor at 756-5443.
Oregon B/C Championships
North Bend Municipal Pool will host the annual Oregon B/C Championships Jan. 25-27, drawing more than 250 youth swimmers from Western Oregon to the Bay Area.
The popular event is one of the last chances for swimmers to qualify for the state championships to be held in February.
There is no admission for the B/C Championships, and concessions will be available.
