Winter is no deterrent for galleries and businesses that participate in the monthly Artwalk! event.

It is a self-directed tour of art displays and culture in historic North Bend and Coos Bay. This month’s event is scheduled from 5 to 8 p.m. on Thursday. Visitors can start at any of the locations listed below. All locations will provide maps. For more information, those interested can contact Beccy Kaneen at Crystal Dolphin Gallery at 756-1989.

Pony Village Mall

Artist Loft Gallery: This gallery in the east wing will present a “Winter Themes” juried art show, both two- and three-dimensional artwork. The show will run through Feb. 8. Refreshments will be provided by the Artist Loft Gallery.

East Wing Art Wall: This exhibit is showing the art of Julie Rumreich.

Heritage Textile Arts Guild: Located in suite 131, this is a working studio featuring most unusual, unique handcrafted fiber art. Headles & Treadles will feature hand-woven yarns and visitors can join the “knit-in.” They will give assistance in beginning a scarf or hat, or visitors can provide companionship while they knit. Refreshments will be served.

Rose Palette Art Studio & Gallery: Located in space 128, the gallery has completed remodeling and will feature jewelry by Linda Morris and Charlie, and Paula Dow’s glass pieces. Sue Scott and Robert Cilantro’s pottery are placed throughout, so be looking for them.

There is new art by Priscilla Rose Wyatt in the gallery and a wall for student art. Priscilla’s poetry book for children, original note cards and metal art have a new twist, a press release said. Also featured will be the oil painting “Dragon’s & Fairies,” by Vicky Wyatt, and Bill Melton’s new cougar painting.

Coos Art Museum: The museum at 235 Anderson Ave. will feature the 2007 Bay Area Artists Association Regional Juried Exhibition, which features 57 artists. The show runs through Feb. 16.

The Pottery Company: Owner Jan Tucker will demonstrate the building of art objects with clay. Refreshments will be served at the store located at 145 Anderson Ave.

Java Jones Coffee House: Located at 757 Newmark Ave., in Empire, Java Jones will feature the pottery art of Laurie Lee and the watercolors of Rod Sullens. Unique refreshments will be served, a press release said. For more information about the coffee house, those interested can call 888-4477.

Collette’s Crepes: The store has moved to a new location in the mini-mall at 3229 Broadway St., Broadway Plaza suites H and I. For more information, those interested can call 751-1475.

Coos Head Food Store: The natural food store at 1960 Sherman Ave. will feature Liz Youngker’s abstract paintings, as well as food tasting and wine sampling. For more information, those interested can call 756-7264.

Crystal Dolphin Gallery: Located at 1901 Sherman Ave., the gallery will feature the art of Clifford Latta. He teaches drum-making and crafts drums from local woods and rawhide, according to a press release. Also available will be Crystal Dolphin’s “Stuff Your Own Mushrooms,” with a new variety of January stuffings. For more information, those interested can call 756-1989.

Easy Lane Frames & Select Art Gallery: The gallery at 3440 Broadway St. will feature the creations of husband and wife team Liz and Jim Brende of Coos Bay, with an opening reception for the couple’s show during Artwalk! Also featured in the gallery will be 45 other South Coast artists. For more information, those interested can call 756-7638.

Epiphany & Co.: A new gallery in the historic Odd Fellows Building, 1989 Sherman Ave., will feature original artwork, gifts and jewelry.

The Framery: The store, which is located at 1774 Union Ave., will have refreshments and show visitors the new way to choose a frame for  art. For more information, those interested can call 756-0797.

Oregon Coast School of Music: The school will partner with Oregon Coast Piano Services, adjacent to the School of Music, 2055 Union Ave., to feature oil paintings by Keith Russett, and watercolors and photographs by Carol Young. For more information, those interested can call 756-4171.

Sozo Tea and Coffee House: Visitors to Sozo’s, 1955 Union Ave., can see local art and enjoy a free 8-ounce latté during the event.

We Sell It For You: New to Artwalk, the eBay trading assistance store, 1987 Sherman Ave., has a selection of paintings by Patricia Hendrickson and various other artists including Don McMichael. Refreshments will be served. For more information, those interested can call 756-1961.

The Oregon Coast School of Music is also featuring artwork by Christy Sanders and Sherry Howk. Music will be playing all evening and refreshments will be served.
