Coos Art Museum features regional artists

The museum hosts the Bay Area Artists Association Regional Juried Exhibition through Feb. 16.

The exhibition  features the works of 57 artists from 12 western Oregon counties, including paintings, photography, sculpture and other three-dimensional creations.

Also on display, the Watercolor Society of Oregon Touring Exhibition features the top 20-winning watercolor paintings from the society’s fall 2007 tour.

The museum is open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday through Friday and from 1 to 4 p.m. on Saturday.

NB library showcasing Oregon scenics

Professional artist William Allen Selden will exhibit his paintings during January in the conference room at the North Bend Public Library, 1800 Sherman Ave.

Selden’s richly detailed and colorful seascapes and Oregon scenes encompass realistic and natural scenes painted in oil on canvas, said a press release. Selden has been an artist since age 9 and received his formal art education at the California Institute of the Arts and the Art Center College of Design.

Gallery fundraiser show ends Tuesday

Easy Lane Frames and Select Art Gallery, 3440 Broadway Ave., in North Bend is featuring “Whimsical Whiskers — A Visual Collection of Feline Companions,” by Bandon photographer Lynda Ann Fost.

The exhibit celebrates the life of the “everyday cat,” and is a fundraiser for the Coos County Animal Shelter. All proceeds from the show will go to the care and adoption of cats.

Fost is a self-taught artist. The exhibit will feature 24 matted and framed photographs of cats, ranging in price from $22 to $48.

Historical museum features exhibit on culture

The Coos Historical & Maritime Museum in North Bend is featuring the exhibit “Time & Topography.”

The exhibit chronicles Coos County’s cultural history. A topographical sculpture of the county also is on display. Interactive exhibits include a timeline photo hunt and “Make Your Own Topo Sculpture.”

The museum is located at 1220 Sherman Ave. and open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday.

Evergreen Court  show ends Jan. 14

Evergreen Court is displaying the artwork of Pat Weaver, at the independent living center, 451 O’Connell St., North Bend.

Weaver’s paintings focus on land and seascapes. She has been painting since she was 13 years old, and works in all mediums from watercolors to pastels.

Bandon museum touts historical photos

The Bandon Historical Society Museum houses many exhibits and more than 1,000 historic photographs. Located at 270 Fillmore Ave., the museum is open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Saturday. Admission is $2 for adults. Children and society members get in free.
