Road Runs

Upcoming Road Races on the South Coast

For more information on upcoming road races and for photos from past events, those interested can log on to the South Coast Running Club’s Web page at www.southcoastrunningclub.com.

Mac’s Run — Today, starting at 10 a.m. at Sunset Bay State Park. Events include a 10-kilometer run and 5-kilometer run/walk along the Cape Arago Highway. Runners in both events will go through Shore Acres State Park, while the longer event also goes through Cape Arago State Park. The entry fee is $7, or $34 for those who want a sweatshirt. Race-day registration and packet pick-up will be held from 9 to 9:45 a.m. in the Sunset Bay parking lot. The race honors late South Coast Running Club member E.P. “Mac” MacKean Smith, who ran into his 80s.

Bullards Run — Sunday, Jan. 13, starting at 2 p.m. in the campground at Bullards Beach State Park near Bandon. Events include a 10-kilometer run and 5-kilometer run/walk, as well as a 1-mile kids run. The entry fee is $2 plus a previously worn, but not worn-out, running T-shirt for a shirt exchange. The $2 fee is to help cover a $100 charge imposed for the first time by the Oregon State Parks Department.
