Coos Bay
Pipe organ concert
Lee Littlefield at the Mighty Wurlitzer and Dr. Wilbur Jensen and the Christmas Brass Ensemble will perform in the 33rd-annual “Sounds of Christmas” concert at noon on Saturday, Dec. 15, at the historic Egyptian Theatre in downtown Coos Bay. Littlefield will play the Wurlitzer organ, one of the few that still exist. The Egyptian Theatre Preservation Association is working to restore the instrument. The Christmas Brass will perform traditional holiday music, novelty tunes and an audience sing-a-long.
North Bend
Kiwanis selling candy
The Kiwanis Club of North Bend is selling See's Candy from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. through Dec. 24. The group is set up between Noah's Ark Fish & Pets and Harbor Lights Animal Hospital. Noah's Ark is located at 1760 Virginia Ave., across from Pony Village Mall in North Bend. All money raised from the annual North Bend Kiwanis club fundraiser serves the community. Lions selling candy
The North Bend Lions Club is selling See's Candy from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. until the candy is gone, at its booth between the Union Hall and KFC on Newmark St., in North Bend. The cost is $14.50 for one pound and two pounds for $29. All proceeds are returned to the community in the form of eye glasses, youth contests, humanitarian contributions, the Save Our Pool committee and more. Lakeside
Kids Christmas program
The Lakeside Lions Hall will host a Christmas program at the hall at 6 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 14. Musical Kidzone Children will perform and there will be free hot dogs and ice cream. Bandon
Living nativity
The Living Nativity, produced by the Bandon Ministerial Association, will be presented at 6 p.m. on Friday and Saturday, Dec. 14 and 15, at the Bandon Chamber of Commerce Information Center parking lot in Old Town Bandon. There will be live animals, actors, music and narration from the Bible’s accounts of the Christmas story. Holiday homes tour
A Christmas Tour of Homes will be held from 1 to 5 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 15. Proceeds will benefit the Lower Umpqua Hospital. Tickets cost $5 and are available at the LUH Gift Shop. For information, those interested can call (541) 271-9700.
Florence area
Lightstation celebration
The free, annual Christmas celebration at the Heceta Head Lightstation north of Florence will be from 4 to 7 p.m., Saturday and Sunday, Dec. 15-16. Volunteers have decorated the Queen Anne-style Keeper’s House with Victorian flourishes inside and out. Entertainment and refreshments will be provided nightly. Parking is available at the Heceta Head Lighthouse State Scenic View Point, just below the Keeper’s House and a shuttle bus will take visitors from the park to the Lightstation front door.
