Residents and businesses in Scottsburg, Wells Creek and Loon Lake lost power for a number of hours Wednesday afternoon as part of a planned outage following the closure of Highway 38 between Elkton and Scottsburg.

According to a Douglas Electric Cooperative press release, crews from the utility took down a transmission line damaged by a slide. The outage began at  2:45 p.m. and lasted until about 4:30 p.m.
