A note from the publisher

Thursday, December 06, 2007 |
For the past 100 years, there has been little change in how newspapers deliver the news. However, just in the past five years, with the increased popularity of the Internet, we’ve had to take a hard look at the future of our industry.
How do we continue to serve our readers and advertisers
What is the best way to deliver the news and stay relevant to the communities we serve
In the past six months, I have spoken with many people in the community who all feel a sense of ownership in The World. That is the mark of a good newspaper — to have the community be invested in your future.
In today’s World, I have inserted a survey. It asks many questions about what you would like to see in your paper. It also asks about your reading habits, your Internet usage and delivery and customer service issues. We have placed the same survey online at
http://www1.theworldlink.com/poll/.
Please take a few moments to answer as many questions as you feel are relevant to you and drop it in the mail to me personally. I promise to read each response, or you can e-mail me directly at
jgeary@theworldlink.com if you just want to make a comment.
Thank you very much for taking the time to make The World an even better newspaper.
I hope that you and your families have a very Merry Christmas and the happiest of new years.
