Accident snarls traffic

The southbound lane of U.S. Highway 101 was partially blocked for about an hour Friday following a single-vehicle accident near Langlois. According to an Oregon State Police press release, at about 6:40 a.m., a southbound 1995 Toyota pickup truck hit a patch of ice. It slid sideways, hit an embankment and rolled onto its side. A passing motorist helped the driver, Catherine Kahn, 57, of Bandon, get out of the vehicle. Kahn told the police she was uninjured. No citations were issued.
