Police blamed icy conditions as the cause of a single-car accident Sunday morning.
According to an Oregon State Police daily incident log, at approximately 7:45 a.m., Bandon resident Sarah A. Eikamp, 22, was driving on Highway 101 near Shinglehouse Slough at milemarker 241.9. To avoid a disabled vehicle, she attempted to brake on the bridge over the slough. Due to the icy conditions, her gray 2005 Chevy Cobalt spun 180 degrees and struck the guardrail on the right side of the highway. The car then slid off the highway, and hit a road sign and a fog marker before stopping.
Eikamp was not hurt in the accident.
A two-car accident near Bandon resulted in warnings for both drivers.
According to an Oregon State Police daily incident log, North Bend resident Zak Drashovich, 54, was driving a 2004 Chevy Monte Carlo north on Highway 101 near milemarker 279. He told police he stopped the car after seeing a deer. The car was struck by a 2004 GMC Envoy driven by Bandon resident Pauline Taylor, 43.
After an investigation, police warned Drashovich for unlawful deceleration. Taylor was warned for following too close.
