Coos Bay firefighters and families gathered at the Firefighters Memorial for a special service in downtown Sunday afternoon.

The group assembled to hold a moment of silence to honor three of their own who died five years ago. Jeffery Common, Capt. Randall Carpenter and Chuck Hanners died battling the Farwest Truck and Auto Supply fire in downtown Coos Bay in 2002. The city installed the three bronze statues in the new memorial plaza last year.
