Basketball season approaching at Boys & Girls Club

The Boys & Girls Club of Southwestern Oregon is taking registrations for the upcoming basketball and bitty basketball programs.
All boys and girls in grades 3 through 6 can participate in basketball. Practices can start this week and the first games will be played Jan. 12.
The fee is $50 with a current club membership.
Bitty basketball is a skills program for boys and girls in first and second grade.
The program will meet from 5 to 6 p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays during February.
The fee is $25 with a current club membership.
Forms for both programs are available at the club office, in local schools, or online at www.bgs-sworegon.org.

South Coast
Cheer Academy
Local students interested in joining the South Coast Cheer Academy can sign up now for the month of December.
Classes are every Tuesday and Thursday from 6 to 7 p.m. at the Boys & Girls Club. Students are working on the basics of cheerleading, including basic conditioning, cheers, chants, short dance routines and jumps.
The fee is $40 per month and forms are available at the club office.

Coaches meeting
A meeting will be held at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday at the Boys & Girls Club for all volunteer basketball coaches.
Information about rules, special events and opportunities will be discussed. Equipment for the season will be distributed.
Anyone unable to attend should contact Jay or Karen at 267-3635.

Bay Area Sportsman’s Association sportsmanship and official awards for Boys & Girls Club of Southwestern Oregon volleyball games played on Nov. 17.

Myrtle Point Sixth Grade: Coos Bay Timber Operators (Millicoma 1), coached by Connie Brownell.
