Q: I’d like to know the outcome of the poll asking where Fiddlesticks Gifts should relocate. Have the owners made a decision What will be the store’s new featured concept
A: Of the 189 responses that were received online at
http://www.fiddlefun.com, the largest percentage of people who voted (43 percent) said they would like Fiddlesticks Gifts to move to Newmark Plaza, behind McDonald’s, in North Bend.
“We agree it is the best move for us,” said Gary Rifkin, who owns Fiddlesticks with his wife, Karla Rifkin. “Our new store will open in July 2008 when we leave Pony Village Mall.”
Rifkin said the 3,000-square-foot store will have new colors and a new logo, with two entrances.
“We’re going to take two storefronts,” Rifkin said. “The left entrance will be Fiddlesticks — Fashion Accessories. The right entrance will be Fiddlesticks — Gifts and Gizmos. There will be one big open space inside.”
The location that came in second place, at 28 percent, was the JC Penney building in Coos Bay, and third place was on U.S. Highway 101 in downtown Coos Bay.
Fiddlesticks has been in business for 28 years. This will be the fourth time the store has moved in the Bay Area.
Fiddlesticks was previously located on Broadway, across from the Egyptian Theatre in downtown Coos Bay, when it was called Fiddlesticks Balloons, Cards & Toys.
The first Fiddlesticks was a gift shop inside the Best Western Holiday Motel in Coos Bay. At that time, the store’s name was Fiddlesticks Oregon Made and Educational Toys.
