Sutherlin gave the Far West League three teams in the Class 4A quarterfinals with its second straight road playoff win, topping unbeaten and No. 3 La Salle 28-21.
The Bulldogs overcame a 21-14 deficit in the fourth quarter on touchdowns by quarterback Caleb Trowbridge and running back Stephen Rockwell.
Sutherlin, which at one point this season was 1-4 and had to go to overtime to beat Douglas and Brookings-Harbor, the former after a late touchdown forced OT and the latter on a blocked extra point.
It is the first time the Vikings have reached the quarterfinals.
Willamette wins
Willamette is the only remaining Midwestern League team in the Class 5A playoffs after beating Hillsboro 44-14 in the second round Friday night.
Craig Loper rushed for 197 yards and scored three touchdowns for the Wolverines, while Spencer Phillips had a scoring run and three touchdown passes.
Willamette will visit Bend in the quarterfinals.
The league’s other two playoff teams — Thurston and Churchill — both lost Friday.
Crater beat Thurston 17-9 in Springfield, while Churchill dropped a 23-16 decision to Glencoe.
