Krambeal elected new insurance director

Debbie Krambeal, President CAL/OR Insurance Specialists from Harbor was elected State National Director by the membership of the Independent Insurance Agents and Brokers of Oregon at the 79th-annual convention. This association represents independent insurance agents at both the state and federal level. Krambeal is the first woman to hold this position in Oregon.

Her responsibilities will include representing Oregon in the conduct of the business of the association at the national level and to speak on behalf of member agents during the legislative conference in Washington, D.C.

Krambeal was formerly the president of the IIABO and was only the fourth woman in this role since the organization was formed in 1923.

Her experience and knowledge of insurance issues have given her the opportunity to serve as a consultant to local representatives. Krambeal will hold this position for the next three years.

CB Toyota expands hiring



Coos Bay Toyota has added two Reedsport residents to its staff.

Buddy McClure has lived in Reedsport for five years, along with his son, Eric. His wife, Nikki, was raised in Reedsport and graduated from Reedsport High School in 2000.

"I like meeting people and making new friends in the area," McClure said in a press release. "I can handle all your vehicle needs from sales to service."

Scot Phares is new to Coos Bay Toyota's sales staff. Phares brings integrity and many years of experience to the company, according to a press release.

He was raised in Reedsport and graduated from Reedsport High School in 1976.

"I'm excited to be selling Toyotas again," Phares said. "Come check out the reason for all the buzz surrounding Toyota's new line of products."

Coos Bay Toyota is located at 2001 N. Bayshore Dr. in Coos Bay.

Abel recognized for insurance leadership

Harry Abel Jr., CIC, AAI, CRM of Abel Insurance Agency, was recognized for professional leadership and advanced knowledge by the Society of Certified Insurance Counselors, a leading national insurance professional organization.

Abel was awarded a certificate marking more than 25 years of participation as a designated certified insurance counselor, which requires annual completion of advanced education and training.

The CIC program is nationally recognized as the premier continuing education program for insurance professionals, with programs offered in all 50 states and Puerto Rico.

Hurbis asked to take part in medical panel

Dr. Charles Hurbis, of Coos Bay, has been invited to participate in a panel discussion regarding reconstruction of the middle nasal vault and nasal valve at the upcoming fall meeting of the Oregon Academy of Otolaryngology this month. The panel also includes Dr. Brian Downs, assistant professor, division of facial plastic and reconstructive surgery Oregon Health & Science University; and Dr. Ted Cook, professor and assistant chairman, department of otolaryngology-head and neck surgery-facial plastic division, OHSU. Dr. Hurbis has practiced in the Bay Area for 16 years.

Economic forum to hold annual meeting

The annual meeting of the Lower Umpqua Economic Development Forum will be held from 6 to 7 tonight at the Port of Umpqua, 364 N. Fourth St., Reedsport.

At this meeting the Forum Board will review the progress on its strategic plan and have an election of directors to the board. Three positions are up for election at this time. This meeting is open to all who are interested.
