Children are invited to chase away those dreary November blues with a program of lively songs, music and comedy with Rich Glauber and his show, “Music in Action.”

Glauber will perform at 11 a.m. Nov. 17, at Coos Bay Public Library on Saturday. The 45-minute program is free and although aimed at children, all ages are very welcome to come and join in the fun, a press release said.

Well-traveled, fluent in Spanish, Glauber was a founding member and keyboardist for Caliente, the popular Salsa band based in Eugene. In 1990, he became an Artist-in-Education spokesman for the Lane Arts Council, performing hundreds of school concerts and workshops throughout western Oregon. He has entertained at the Oregon Bach festival, the Oregon County Fair, the Willamette Valley Folk Festival, the Eugene Celebration, Seattle’s Bumbershoot Festival and at numerous local venues. In the past few years, he has performed at hundreds of libraries around Oregon and Washington.

Glauber’s work is firmly rooted in research that demonstrates the importance of movement in helping foster children’s cognitive, physical and emotional development.

“Kids need to move to music, use their muscles, find their voices, experience the joy of being an active, inspired human being. It’s something we need more of in our culture,” he said.

The show will focus on creative movement, comedy, español, rhythm and fun. He uses guitar, accordion, voice and percussion instruments during his very popular performances.
