Wave energy meeting planned
Thursday, November 8, 2007 11:15 AM PST

Representatives from Ocean Power Technologies will visit Reedsport again on Monday, Nov. 12, to discuss with fishermen the company’s proposed wave energy park near Gardiner.

At the last meeting between fishermen and OPT, in October, OPT agreed to look at whether it would be feasible to move the 14-buoy array deeper than it is presently planned. That analysis is complete and OPT will make the results available on Monday.

Reedsport OPT Wave Park Program Manager Paul Amman said he is hoping several fishermen attend so both groups can continue the constructive dialogue started in October.

The meeting will be held from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the Port of Umpqua offices, 364 N. Fourth St., in Reedsport.
