GB looks to football playoffs, Steelers and Dodgers

Gold Beach coach Kevin Swift isn’t superstitious, but he does like the idea of his Panthers re-tracing their steps this postseason. For the third time in four years, Gold Beach will host a first-round OSAA Class 3A playoff game at Marshfield High School’s Pete Susick Stadium. The game happens Saturday, and Swift can't wait for his team to get their feet on the turf.

PITTSBURGH - The Steelers are dominating like Pittsburgh teams of old. The final score Monday: Final score: Steelers 38, Ravens 7. What a show it was. Ben Roethlisberger tied the team's single-game record with five touchdowns passes, and did so before the half as Pittsburgh repeatedly got the ball deep in Ravens territory.
LOS ANGELES - Joe Torre is the new manager of the Los Angeles Dodgers. In taking over a team that's long had high expectations and low results, Torre believes he can play a significant role in changing the fortune.
