Meyer Memorial Trust awarded 34 grants totaling $1.2 million to nonprofit organizations this month through its Responsive Grants and Grassroots Grants programs.

Programs in the region receiving grants included:

n Gold Beach: Christian Help of Gold Beach, $11,000, to replace a structurally-deficient and water-damaged wall in the thrift store.

n Elkton: Elkton Community Education Center, $30,000, to help build a library/multipurpose community building.

Since its inception in 1982, the trust has awarded 5,486 grants providing more than $426 million to tax-exempt organizations.
