Architects join CB firm

HGE Inc., Architects, Engineers, Surveyors & Planners, a multi-disciplinary design firm, celebrates its 55th anniversary this year and continues to grow and expand its services by adding staff members and acquiring Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design accreditation. This Coos Bay company performs work all over the state and beyond.
Perry St. John joined the firm in 2006 as part of the architectural division. He brought 27 years of experience in various parts of the country. He graduated with an architectural degree in 1979 from Auburn University and practiced in North Carolina for 20 years. He moved to San Diego in 2001 where he worked for a laboratory consulting firm until he moved to the Coos Bay area in 2003. His experience ranges from preliminary design through construction documents and construction administration and he has worked on a variety of institutional and commercial building project types from research facilities to medical offices to retail.
Stephanie Nelson, a Coquille High School graduate, joined the firm in 2007 as a recent graduate from the University of Oregon with a degree in Landscape Architecture. She will assist the architectural division with their projects as well as apply her skills in site design and landscaping as a landscape architect intern. Eventually she will become licensed and the firm can offer landscape architectural services.
Joseph Slack, principal architect, recently passed the exam and achieved LEED professional status for new construction. The U.S. Green Building Council established LEED as a tool for green design to help design teams and owners determine green project goals, identify green design strategies, measure and monitor progress and document success. Joe is the only architect in southwestern Oregon who has attained this accreditation.
HGE Inc. has a staff of about 30 providing a variety of services including municipal civil engineering services, development civil engineering, surveying, electrical engineering and architectural services in municipal, institutional, commercial, multi-family and custom single-family residential projects.
