MEDFORD (AP) — A Medford fourth-grader who used the Heimlich maneuver to dislodge a corn chip stuck in a classmate’s throat is going to make an appearance on national television news.

Nine-year-old Dominic Ramos will be featured in Steve Hartman’s “Assignment America” series during the CBS Evening News on Oct. 26.

Dominic found his best buddy, Harrison Weidman, red-faced and choking on nachos during lunch period last Tuesday at Griffin Creek Elementary School in Medford.

There was no time to find an adult, so Dominic gave Harrison the life-saving squeezes and “the chip flew out.”

The boy’s quick action has already been praised by a Medford doctor who used the maneuver many times to save lives — including fellow doctors.
