Million Dollar Challenge is Oct. 13

Two of the South Coast’s popular fall community runs will be held the next two weeks.
The Million Dollar Challenge, in which runners and walkers are judged against standards based on their age, will be held next Saturday on the Coos Bay Boardwalk.
The races, which include a 5,000-meter run/walk and a 2,500-meter run for kids 13 and under, begin at 10 a.m. Registration runs from 9 to 9:45 a.m.
All runners will receive medals based on how they fare against standards set by the Road Runners Club of America and the South Coast Running Club.
The entry fee is $8 for those who sign up on the day of the race.

Meanwhile, the See Jane Run, the annual South Coast woman only run/walk, will be held on Saturday, Oct. 20, starting at 10 a.m. on John Topits Park in Coos Bay.
Events include a 5-kilometer run/walk and a noncompetitive 1-mile fun walk.
The fee is $20 with a T-shirt or $8 without, and proceeds benefit the Coos County Women’s Safety and Resource Center.
