County Health Department has flu shot clinics scheduled for October in CB, Lakeside

The Coos County Health Department recommends that all adults and children 6 months of age and older receive a flu shot.
Influenza illness can occur at anytime from November through May. The best time to get a flu shot is in October and November in order to develop immunity before the flu season starts, health officials say.
The Health Department has scheduled the following flu shot clinics for October:
• Lakeside Lions Club, 890 Bowron Road, 1 to 4 p.m., Tuesday, Oct. 9; and
• Coos Bay Senior Activity Center, 886 S. Fourth St., from 1 to 4 p.m., Tuesday, Oct. 16.
The Health Department will accept Medicare, Oregon Health Plan, Blue Cross/Blue Shield and Pacific Source insurance.
Flu shots also will be available by appointment at the Health Department. To schedule an appointment, those interested can call 756-2020, ext. 510 or ext. 522.
