At its last meeting, the Coos Bay City Council awarded a $104,000 bid to Donald W. Thompson, Inc. for the remodeling and expansion of the Coos Art Museum’s Mabel Hansen Gallery.

Funds for the project, which will essentially combine two rooms into one, were raised by the museum.

Executive Director Steven Broocks said the renovations should begin in early October and are scheduled to take about three months to complete. None of the museum’s current exhibits will be impacted by the work, Broocks said.

“Once it’s completed, we will have a much more useable space, both in size and in the way it operates,” he said.
