The results are in. Joining the existing 15 members of the Bay Area Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors for 2008-10 are Karl Bender, Travis Burgher, Matt LeDoux, Gary Rifkin, Lila Sweet and Margery Whitmer.

“We had an excellent set of candidates from which to choose our new board members, an enthusiastic voting membership and some tight returns,” said the Chamber’s Executive Director Timm Slater.

Matt LeDoux, a member of the chamber board for the past seven months, is the president of Fisherman’s Wharf in Charleston. LeDoux has lived in the area for five years, taking a marketing degree at South West Oregon Community College.

Gary Rifkin, a Bay Area resident for more than 30 years, has co-owned and operated Fiddlesticks Gifts since 1980. Rifkin has worked with the Southwestern Business Development Center since 1994.

Lila Sweet, owner of Lila’s Boutique, has been a Bay Area resident most of her life. She worked at Security Bank for 15 years.

Karl Bender, a 17-year resident of the Bay Area, is owner of 3B’s Nursery and Gardening.

Margery Whitmer, office manager for an ocean sport charter fishing business, has lived in the area for more than 21 years. She previously served on the Chamber Board of Directors from 1996 to 1998.

Travis Burgher works sales in the family-owned BNT Promotional Products. He has lived here all his life except for taking a degree in marketing at Boise State University. At Boise he played five years of college football during which time they won four league championships and four NCAA Division 1 bowl games.

“Thanks to all the candidates and to you for participating in shaping our future,” Slater said. “Let’s make 2008 the best year ever in Oregon’s Bay Area!”
