Pirates improve to 3-1 on season
Marshfield captured its third win of the season, beating visiting Lebanon 2-1 on Saturday.
Richie Richmond scored Marshfield’s first goal, with an assist by Forrest Rambo, while Gatlin Giorgis got the other on a header off an assist by Eike Behrens. Both scores came early in the first half.
Phies Wibrandt scored Lebanon’s goal.
The Pirates open league play today at Springfield.
GIRLS SOCCER
Warriors top Pirates
Lebanon beat Marshfield 6-2 in a nonleague match on Saturday, but the Pirates had their best offensive output in two seasons.
“The girls did score two goals, which is more than they scored all season last year,” said Marshfield coach Kitty DeMoss. “They’re very excited about that. I’m excited about that, because we did take some risks and even though we did not come up on the winning end, we did play on the offensive side of Lebanon, and that felt pretty good for a lot of the girls.”
Lilly Duarte scored for the Pirates in the first half. Hannah Kemp, an exchange student from Germany, had the other goal.
“We felt we made a lot of progress,” DeMoss said.
