Cedar Point wins best park for 10th year

ARLINGTON, Texas (AP) — The Cedar Point amusement park in Sandusky, Ohio, has been named best amusement park in the annual Golden Ticket Awards competition.

Cedar Point also won the award for best new ride of 2007 for its Maverick coaster.

The awards, based on surveys from hundreds of amusement park fans, have been presented each September for 10 years by Amusement Today, a trade newspaper based in Texas. Cedar Point has won the best park award every year since the awards began.

Schlitterbahn Waterpark Resort in New Braunfels, Texas, was named best waterpark, and its Master Blaster attraction won for best waterpark ride.

World Waterpark in West Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, was named best indoor waterpark.

Legoland in Carlsbad, Calif., won for best children’s park, while Kings Island, in Kings Mills, Ohio, won in the category of amusement park with the best kids’ area.

Holiday World & Splashin’ Safari in Santa Claus, Ind., won for friendliest staff, cleanest park, and best new waterpark ride for its Bakuli attraction.

Knoebels Amusement Resort, in Elysburg, Pa., won for best food and best carousel, while Six Flags Fiesta Texas, in San Antonio, won for best shows.
