Roseburg Forest Products' permit information sought

Tuesday, September 04, 2007 |
The Oregon Department of Environmental Quality is inviting comments on a proposed air quality permit for Roseburg Forest Products’ Coquille plant. The permit would allow the construction and operation of a device that controls the emissions of the plant’s veneer dryers. Because the device, a regenerative catalytic oxidizer, and an increase in plywood production will swell emissions, the plant must obtain a construction air contaminant discharge permit.
If issued, the permit would be effective for five years, expiring July 2012.
Written comments will be accepted until 5 p.m. on Oct. 2.
The DEQ will schedule a public hearing if 10 or more people request one. The draft permit and review report can be viewed at the Coquille Public Library, 105 N. Birch St. For more information, to send comments or request a public hearing, those interested can contact Patty Hamman at (503) 378-5305.
