Curry County deputies recovered property belonging to a burglary victim from a vehicle while dealing with another incident.
According to a Curry County Sheriff's Office press release, on Aug. 15, Richard Engh of Gold Beach contacted the Sheriff's Office to report that someone had entered his home and took many personal items sometime between July 29 and Aug. 8. Engh filed a self report form, describing items that were stolen. During a review of the report, staff discovered that Engh's descriptions matched items recovered from a black PT Cruiser on Aug. 9.
The driver and two passengers of the cruiser, Christopher Ben, 26, Robert Miller, 25, and Jesse Davidson, 25, all of Salem, all were arrested on Marion County warrants and charged on possession of controlled substances and two other counts of first-degree burglary and first-degree theft. They are being held without bail at the Curry County jail.
On Aug. 16, Engh came to the Sheriff's Office and identified several of his belongings, valued at about $700. About $200 worth of his property is still missing.
First-degree theft and first-degree burglary were tacked on to both Davidson and Miller's list of charges on Aug. 16.
The Curry County Sheriff's Office will continue the investigation, as other stolen items found in the vehicle remain unidentified.
Anyone who has been a victim of a burglary or theft is encouraged to call the Curry County Sheriff's Office. For more information, those interested can call (541) 247-3242.
