Crash snarls busy boulevard traffic

Wednesday, August 08, 2007 |
Two people were injured and eastbound traffic was detoured following a three-car crash near the Coos Bay-North Bend Water Board office on Tuesday.
According to the Coos Bay Police log, at about 7:35 p.m., a Dodge pickup truck was traveling east on Ocean Boulevard near the Water Board, 2305 Ocean Blvd., when it reportedly veered into the left traffic lane and struck a Jeep Cherokee. The Cherokee spun into several different lanes of traffic and collided with an eastbound Dodge Neon. The vehicles came to rest in the middle of the east travel lanes, a police dispatcher said.
The driver of the pickup, Lori Fairhurst, 26, no address available, was injured and taken to Bay Area Hospital. The drivers of the Neon and the Cherokee, Christina Burley, 24, and Shirlee Lincoln, 24, no addresses available, also were hurt and were taken to Bay Area Hospital. All three women were treated at the Emergency Room and released on Tuesday, according to a hospital spokeswoman.
Eastbound lanes were closed for about half an hour while officers cleared the crash.
No further information was available at press time.
