A Coos Bay area man was arrested this morning on charges stemming from failure to register as a felony sex offender. According to the North Bend Police log, at about 3:14 a.m., officers responded to a report of harassment in the 700 block of California Street.

Officers contacted Tony Waters, 20, and cited him on a charge of minor in possession of alcohol. After scanning court records, officers arrested him on a charge of failing to register as a felony sex offender. He was taken to Coos County jail, where he is being held on a $25,000 bail.

A North Bend man was arrested Wednesday in Reedsport on a drug-possession charge. According to an Oregon State Police press release, at about 8:30 a.m., a trooper pulled over a 1997 Ford Escort near the intersection of Winchester Avenue and state Highway 38. A consent search of the vehicle revealed a suspected glass methamphetamine pipe containing meth residue. Troopers arrested Lee Snyder, 54, on charges of unlawful possession of methamphetamine and reckless driving. He was taken to Reedsport jail, where he was booked. At press time, he was in transit to Douglas County jail in Roseburg.
