Pacific Cove Humane Society to move to Coos Bay location

Saturday, August 04, 2007 |
Officials from the Pacific Cove Humane Society announced they will move its office out of North Bend this September to take advantage of a cheaper deal in Coos Bay.
Doing so will improve the financial outlook for the organization's mission of building a second animal shelter in the county, said Janet Huggins, the president and a board member of the Pacific Cove Humane Society.
Founded in 2000, the society has been located at 222 S. Broadway in the North Bend Community Center for the past five years. It will move to an office in the Huggins Insurance building, 445 Elrod Ave., in Coos Bay, on Sept. 1.
Huggins said her husband, Bob Huggins, who is the owner and operator of Huggins Insurance, is allowing the organization to relocate to his office at no charge. This will mean a more than $3,800 savings per year.
“When you weigh our expenses against what our goals (are) it makes sense for us to dedicate as much money as we can toward shelter construction,” Huggins said.
See Monday's paper for more on Pacific Cove's plans.
