Truck crashes in field near elk viewing site

A Reedsport man was involved in a single-vehicle traffic accident at the Dean Creek Elk Viewing Area off state Highway 38 early Wednesday morning.
According to an Oregon State Police press release, sometime between 3 and 4 a.m., Ryan Hitchcock, 20, was heading east in a 1996 Toyota Tacoma, when the truck left the roadway. Authorities said they suspect Hitchcock fell asleep leading to the crash. The truck traveled down an embankment and overturned in the elk field.
Police indicated that Hitchcock was not transported to the hospital.
