Sandblasters finish with big win on road

Three Rivers clinched at least a tie for first place in the Zone 3 American Legion standings by beating Withnell Dodge in Salem by a 14-12 margin Sunday.

The Sandblasters finished the league season with a 10-5 record and swept the season series from Withnell Dodge.

Richey's Market of Corvallis is 9-5 with a game remaining against Withnell Dodge. Salem Post 9 is 9-5 and also must play Withnell Dodge, which is 8-5 in league play.

Three Rivers owns tiebreakers against both Salem teams, but lost two of three games to Richey's Market.

The league playoffs begin Thursday.

Against Withnell Dodge, Eddie Crowe had two home runs and three RBIs and Drew Rainwater also hit a home run for the Sandblasters, who have a nonleague game at Redmond today.

Shane Rose had three hits for Three Rivers, including a double. Travis Anderson and Beau Biron had two hits each.
