North Bend middle schools release spring honor rolls

North Bend Middle School and Oregon Coast Technology School released the honor roll for seventh and eighth grade students in spring.

North Bend Middle School

Seventh grade students

€ 4.0 grade-point average: Karissa Fults, Kyle Hamm and Lucas Hammond.

€ 3.50 to 3.99 GPA: Jonathan Harris, Jaden Justice, Mariya Wymer, Madisen Ranson, Aireannah Foren and Emily Thom.

Local students earn places on OSU's spring honor roll

Oregon State University has announced the names of students who have made the scholastic honor roll for spring term. A total of 506 students earned straight-A (4.0). Another 2,288 earned a B-plus (3.5) or better to make the listing. To be on the honor roll, students must carry at least 12 graded hours of course work.

Becker graduates from OSU with teaching degree

Linda Becker, daughter of Jack and Rose Belcher of Bandon, graduated from Oregon State University with a Master of Arts in teaching in June.

Becker graduated from Bandon High School before attending Southwestern Oregon Community College where she received her Associate of Arts degree. She later transferred to Berea College in Kentucky to complete her bachelor's degree in English.

Linda and her 4-year-old daughter, Ariana, will be moving to Arizona in July to teach fourth grade at Indian Wells Elementary School, which is located on the largest Indian reservation in the United States, Navajo Nation.

Ring earns construction, engineering degree at OSU

Amanda Ring of Coos Bay graduated in June from Oregon State University with a degree in construction engineering management with a minor in business administration.

She was honored with the outstanding student award.

While at OSU, Ring was a member of the Associated Schools of Construction and Heavy Civil Engineering estimating team, which won a regional contest in Reno, Nev., and placed second nationally in San Antonio, Texas.

Ring accepted a project engineer position in Portland for the Knife River Corp.

Ring is the daughter of Jim and Lori Ring of Coos Bay. She graduated from Marshfield High School in 2003.
