Libraries throughout the South Coast are offering a variety of summer programs including everything from storytime to jugglers.

Coos Bay

The Coos Bay Public Library's summer reading program runs through Aug. 3. This year's theme is “Get a Clue @ Your Library,” with programs for super sleuths from preschool through 12th grade. Most programs began last month and will continue through August.

The library will offer storytime on Tuesdays for children in grades two through six and Wednesdays for those in preschool through first grade. It also will offer a “List of Suspects in the Great Book Caper” through Aug. 3 for children in preschool through the fifth grade, which will provide prizes for reading.

For older children, YNK (Why Never Know), an independent reading and listening program which offers prizes for children in grades 6 through 12.

North Bend

The North Bend Public Library is hosting the “Get a Clue - READ!” program for children ages 3-12 through July 23. The free program is geared toward children ages 3-12. The library also is offering YNK for youth 13-18.

Special performances:

n Loose Acoustic Trio musical performance at noon, on Friday, July 20.

Story Time will feature books, music and activities through July 26 for kids ages 6 and up at 1 p.m. on Wednesdays; and at 11 a.m. on Thursdays for children ages 3 to 6.

Summer Toddler Time, a specially designed program for children between 18 to 36 months and supervising adults, will be held on Wednesdays through Aug. 1 at 10:45 a.m. Advance registration is required. Attendance is limited to 12 toddlers and 12 adults, and all toddlers must be accompanied by a supervising adult.

Coquille

“Get a Clue @ Your Library” will be held through July at the Coquille Public Library, 105 N. Birch St. The program includes creative activities and professional entertainers.

Programs will be held on Wednesdays; one at 10:30 a.m. for children in pre-school or kindergarten; and crafts and activities for children in the first through seventh grades at 4 p.m.

A prize party for all youth readers will be held at 4 p.m. on Wednesday, July 25.

Myrtle Point

Children are invited to join Flora M. Laird Memorial Library's free summer reading program, “Get a Clue @ Your Library,” which runs through Aug. 8 at the library, 435 Fifth St., in Myrtle Point. Summer reading programs for preschool children are held from 10:30 to 11 a.m. on Wednesdays. School-aged children can participate in the “Get a Clue” program from 1 to 2 p.m. on Wednesdays.

Registration is encouraged. The library welcomes children of all abilities.

Reedsport

“Get a Clue @ Your Library!” is the theme of the free 2007 Summer Reading Program for the Reedsport library. Participating children can receive a summer reading bookbag and more.

Programs for children ages 5-12 are presented at 11 a.m. on Tuesdays including, mask-making on July 10 and storytelling on July 17.

Summer reading for teens ages 12-18 also is available. Activities include library bingo cards, guessing jars and drawings.

Bandon

Bandon Public Library's Summer Reading Program offers programs for all ages. Registration is required.

Camp Read-A-Lot, for 4-, 5- and 6-year-olds, is being held from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. on Thursdays through Aug. 2, and from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. on Wednesdays through Aug. 22. The Early Readers Group, for children entering first grade or older, and the “Get A Clue” program Both sessions isl being held on Thursdays through Aug. 2, from 1 to 2:30 p.m. and from 3 to 4:30 p.m. Participants track their reading progress and earn surprises.

There also is a drop-in toddler/preschool Story Time from 11 to 11:30 a.m. on Wednesdays July 18 and 25, and Aug. 1 and 8.
