Port Orford man jailed after man stabbed

Police arrested a man on an attempted murder charge in Curry County on Thursday.
According to a press release from the Curry County Sheriff's Office, at around 5 a.m. a 911 caller reported a stabbing at 42570 Port Orford Loop Road, near Port Orford. Sheriff's deputies, Port Orford police officers and an ambulance arrived at the house to discover Wilson L. Thompson, 28, of Port Orford, suffering from stab wounds in the neck and shoulders and cuts on both hands.
Thompson was taken to Curry General Hospital, where he was treated and released.
While working with the Sheriff's Office, Port Orford police officers were approached by a man on West 18th Street. He was bleeding from several cuts. Christopher S. Leonard, 19, of Bristol, Tenn., was taken to Curry General Hospital for treatment.
Deputies searched the crime scene at the house and a room at the Shoreline Motel, on U.S. Highway 101, in Port Orford, where Leonard had reportedly been staying. Items were seized from both locations and officers discovered a knife in the motel room.
Police arrested Leonard on charges of attempted murder, first-degree assault, second-degree assault, fourth-degree assault, first-degree burglary and second-degree criminal mischief. He was taken to the Curry County jail where he is being held on $4 million bail.
No further information was available at press time and the incident remains under investigation. |
