The Three Rivers Sandblasters won their second league game in as many days, beating visiting Springfield 10-1 in a Zone 3 game at Siuslaw High School.
The Sandblasters pounded out 12 hits in all, including five for extra bases. Travis Anderson led the way, going 4-for-4 and hitting a solo home run in the fifth inning. He scored three times.
Eddie Crow had a two-run double in the first inning to help the Sandblasters to a quick start. Three Rivers had three runs in the first and four more in the third.
“We've been having some big innings and scoring some runs, so that's been good,” coach Corky Franklin said. “We've also had good outings on the mound and good defense behind them.”
Travis Iverson provided the latest stellar start, pitching seven innings and giving up just a single run in the third inning. Tyler Mais pitched the final two innings, completing a five-hitter for the Sandblasters.
Iverson threw just 86 pitches in seven innings.
“He was pretty efficient (with) good tempo,” Franklin said. “It was a good start.”
Iverson had plenty of help from the offense.
David Deutschman and Scott Buche each had two hits. Deutschman and Shane Rose had triples and Justin Bond had a double.
Three Rivers improved to 4-1 in league play going into a home game today against Albany, the only league foe the Sandblasters haven't yet faced.
After visiting Doc Stewart's in Roseburg for a nonleague contest on Thursday, the Sandblasters have an off day Friday.
